My approach to therapy is strongly grounded in a holistic understanding that body, mind, and spirit are interconnected to enhance the human experience of life. As a pastoral counselor, I use a variety of models which include object relation, Jungian depth psychology, behavior modification, family systems, and EMDR to help my clients grow into new understandings about themselves and the world around them. I draw strongly on depth and relational models.
I work with a diverse population on a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, childhood abuse, domestic violence, identity issues, developmental transitions, grief, anger, and spirituality. In recent years, I have developed and implemented curriculum for schools and social agencies dealing with the promotion of non-violence.
Although I am trained as a pastoral counselor, I do not impose my belief or religious experience on my clients. My approach is grounded in a framework of hospitality, meeting the needs of my clients in a respectful environment of safety. This approach of hospitality creates an opportunity for persons to discover their personal strengths, gifts, and uniqueness. I engage with persons committed to honoring and empowering their life experiences.
